Congratulations Amanda!

I wish to extend a very warm, heartfelt congratulations to our (first) ESAH volunteer turned paid veterinary technician assistant, Amanda Esten.

Today Amanda learned she has been offered a seat in the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine’s Class of 2018.  This accomplishment is significant for many reasons, but especially because the typical veterinary student must apply on average two or three times prior to being accepted into a school of veterinary medicine.  This was Amanda’s first application.

Amanda’s accomplishment comes just three years after she elected to change careers, transitioning from high school teacher to veterinary medicine student.  She took to her new field with abandon, earning straight A’s in her pre-requisite coursework all while establishing and expanding her practical clinical knowledge with obvious aptitude and ever-present enthusiasm.

I am exceptionally proud of Amanda and her accomplishment, and wish her the greatest success as she embarks on the final leg of her journey to becoming a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.
